Alibi Bar
Once a notorious “drunk tank” in Boston’s historic Charles Street Jail, the Alibi Bar & Lounge now thrives as a chic, upscale destination in the Liberty Hotel, blending high design with playful nods to its past. While the interior offered stylish décor and moody ambiance, the expansive outdoor patio was lacking in both aesthetic and functionality - marred by sparse, struggling greenery and little separation from the busy Beacon Hill street. To transform the space into a more intimate and inviting lounge, the venue’s team partnered with Artificial Plants Unlimited for a custom solution that could deliver modern garden appeal with zero upkeep.
The answer was a series of tall, ultra-realistic faux boxwood hedges installed in oversized, commercial-grade fiberglass planters. These UV-rated, all-weather hedges now act as stylish privacy screens, blocking noise and creating a lush green barrier that instantly elevates the patio’s vibe. Built to endure Boston’s changing seasons, the hedges require no watering or trimming - saving on maintenance while maximizing style. For added functionality, the design includes integrated lighting and built-in shelving cutouts for menus or display items. The result is a vibrant, low-maintenance outdoor escape that invites guests to linger longer - an alibi worth returning to.
